A George III Irish mahogany and inlaid longcase clock, mid 18th century
The stepped top hood with outset reeded columns, with wavy arch trunk door with chequer inlays and central oval patera, conforming panel below, flanked by reeded three-quarter length pilasters, the plinth with patera inlay and on bracket feet (one lacking), the 12½in. square cut-away brass dial with mask and foliate spandrels to a Roman and Arabic chapter ring with dot minute track and signed John Sall/DUBLIN, matted centre with ringed winding holes and recessed silvered seconds and date discs, blued steel hands, the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell; movement and dial possibly associated to case -- 84in. (214cm.) high
