BRUNFELS, Otto (1488-1534). Herbarium tomis tribus. Strassburg: 1532; 1531 and 1536.
3 parts in one volume, 2o (321 x 199 mm). 242 woodcut illustrations mostly by Hans Weiditz. (Lacking blanks 1H4 [pt. II] and V8 [pt. III], first title cut round and mounted, i3 in pt. I with marginal repaired tear crossing text, second title with two long repaired tears, few other marginal repairs, some dampstaining and browning.) Contemporary blind-tooled calf (heavily restored). Provenance: some early marginalia; Massachusetts Horticultural Society, Stickney Fund (bookplate dated 1893).
Second edition of part I, FIRST EDITION of parts II and III. As Hunt has pointed out, the publishing history of the three part's of Brunfels Herbal in their various editions remains to be clarified.
