A French engraved gilt-brass and porcelain-mounted oval mignonnette carriage timepiece
Drocourt, No. 17317, retailed by Le Roy & Fils. Circa 1870
The case engraved with foliage to the base, top and handle, the sides with porcelain panels painted on one side with a lady in period dress crossing a stream on stilts with a dog barking on the bank, the other painted with a lady in period dress in a garden with two playing by a fence, the dial with Roman chapter ring and blued steel hands and signed Le Roy & Fils 13 & 15 Palais Royal and painted below with a millhouse and watermill with ducks beside the stream, the single barrel movement with bimetallic balance to platform lever escapement, with maker's stamp for Drocourt on the back plate, movement number 17317 and signed by the retailer Le Roy & Fils Palais Royal 13 & 15 Paris 11843; with original travelling case with blue material cover (distressed) and grey velvet lining and original numbered winding key
