8o (157 x 91 mm). Engraved portrait frontispiece, typographic title-border (both with edges worn with some loss), 8 sectional titles. (Lacking advertisement leaves at end, bound close at gutter margin, headlines occasionally shaved, light dampstaining to first few gatherings, closed tear to 2H1, small hole and adhesion to 2F3/4, 2G1 and 2G8 transposed, final leaf 2L4 bound before 2L2.) Modern calf. Provenance: Janet Macwhinnie (signature on frontispiece recto dated 1849).

FIRST EDITION. "Culpeper left many unpublished works at his death, and his wife insured that they were published...The book also contains a short introductory testimony by Culpeper's wife and Culpeper's horoscope done by John Gadbury, a close friend" (Heirs of Hippocrates 323).
