Circa 1750
On the exterior 10 Swedish coins in sepia and gilt depicting gods or a crown and with inscriptions and dates, on the rim above a scroll-and-shell border, the interior with a cluster of iron-red and gilt flowers beneath a gilt spearhead border
10¼in. (26cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

The coins depicted are Swedish dalers of the 1715-1719 period, issued during the Nordic War in an emergency copper minting. See The Connoisseur, October 1999, Numismatic Sources of Chinese Export Porcelain Decoration by S.S. Mottahedeh.
