A pair of Cantonese joss stick holders
19th century
modelled as caparisoned elephants, standing facing left and right, wearing saddles and saddle cloths decorated with peony sprays and scrolling foliage, the saddles supporting flaring joss stock holders with floral panels, the iron red bodies heightened in gilt -- 7in. (17.8cms) long, (some restoration).
