Lot Essay

We are grateful to Mrs. Fausta Franchini Guelfi (private communication, 27 July 2002) and Ms. Laura Muti (private communication, 26 July 2002) for confirming from photgraphs, the attribution of the landscape to Peruzzini and the attribution of the figures to a contemporary follower of Magnasco. Ms. Muti further points out that the staffage resembles those in early works by Magnasco (see L. Muti and D. de Sarno Prignano, Arte Documento, 'Tu per tu con la pittura. Studi e richerche di storia dell'arte', Rome, 2002, p. 327, fig. 22).
