A pattern for a related 'Library Read Chair', fitted with 'French stuffed cushions' and with caned back, seats and sides, featured in R. Ackermann's Repository of Arts, 1810. While Gillow's 1803 Estimate Sketch Book includes a related caned 'Ashburnham' chair, and derives from a French baluster-armed chair pattern in Thomas Sheraton's Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Drawing Book, 1793, p. VI (Westminster City Library, Gillow MSS, no. 1721).
