An early Louis XV kingwood crossbanded and ormolu mounted commode en tombeau, by Louis Noel Malle
surmounted by a contemporary serpentine moulded marble top (repaired) with rounded corners, containing two short and two long drawers, inlaid with lines of cartouche shaped outline, applied with rococo gilt bronze ormolu mounts, handles and cartouche plates between projecting angles applied with trailing ornament, with quarter veneered sides on splayed legs, with pierced foliate scroll sabots, the apron possibly removed, stamped 'MALLE' -- 34½in. (87.5cm.) high, 52½in. (133.5cm.) wide, 24¾in. (62.5cm) deep
