Clos de la Roche, Vieilles Vignes--Vintage 1991
Cote de Nuits, Ponsot
"Ponsot's 1991 Clos de la Roche-Vieilles Vignes (55-year old vines that produced 1/2 ton per hectare) is a mind-boggling wine that rivals virtually anything produced in Burgundy over the last several decades. It offers an amazingly sweet bouquet redolent with aromas of crushed black-raspberries, black-cherries, and underlying earthy, truffle-like notes. Awesomely rich, dense, and full-bodied, this spectacular low acid, multidimensional wine has a blockbuster finish. While drinkable now, it should age effortlessly for 15-20 or more years." Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, Issue 90
