Roman and Greek types. (One word on A1 partly erased, some light spotting.) FIRST EDITION of this collection of commentaries by Giacomo dalla Croce on classical authors such as Horace, Lucan, Vergil, Martial, Juvenal, and also Boethius. RARE, not in the British Library or Adams, and no copy has been sold at auction in over 25 years. EDIT on-line, CNC 15857 (recording 9 copies only).

3 works in one volume, 2° (303 x 210mm). 16th-century Italian flexible vellum blocked in gilt with arabesque center- and cornerpieces, fleurons at corners, flat spine tooled in compartments, lettered in MS, old paper labels, red edges (gilt oxidised, a little staining, without two fore-edge ties). Provenance: Baron Joannes Wilhelmus of Schönkirchen (inscription dated 1583 on first title) -- Vienna, Barnabite College of St. Michael (inscription on second leaf) -- occasional annotations in several early hands.
