Lot Essay

These underglaze-iron and copper dishes were made at Kishimoto's kiln near Kakino. The potter uses the kiln location as his seal on the wood storage box. He exhibits in Japan primarily at the Takashimaya Department Store Gallery, Tokyo, and at Hankyu Gallery, Osaka. His dishes have been featured on the popular Japanese cooking program, Iron Chef. In the United States his work is in the collections of the Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven, Connecticut.
