Lot Essay

The idea to fashion horns into furniture was probably first conceived in the log cabins and hunting lodges, which hunters decorated with trophies of their chase. Around 1800 horn seat furniture became widespread and continued to be seen at international exhibitions such as the Crystal Palace Exhibition of 1851, the London Exhibition of 1862 and the Philadelphia Exhibition of 1876
