Lot Essay

It would seem quite possible that the picture was purchased from the collection of du Cros (who hosted King George V's convalescence at Craigwell in 1929, the cause of the King's celebrated observation on the charms of the town) by Butlin, the holiday camp entrepreneur, who established a resort at Bognor in 1960.
