Of light-cavalry shape (unusually elongated), the pocket of maroon leather with flap faced with maroon velvet trimmed with wide gold departmental lace with maroon stripe and richly embroidered with oakleaf and acorn sprays beneath the VR cypher surmounted by Victorian Crown, with three gilt suspension dees at the top and with its maroon leather outer cover

This pattern of sabretache is not recorded in Army Dress Regulations and is the rarest British sabretache of the late 19th century
