TWO EUROPEAN CAVALRY SABRES
Circa 1900 and earlier
An officer's sabre, probably Italian, of Light Cavalry type, with curved fullered blade bearing etched decoration including trophies, a horseman, Turk's head, banners, crescent moon, and six-pointed stars, sheet metal guard, pierced to form a main knuckle-guard and four narrower 'bars', pommel of octagonal section, steel scabbard with two rings; together with a cavalry trooper's sword, also probably Italian, with curved blade, large sheet-steel guard with single cut-out, wire-bound leather-covered grip and heavy steel scabbard with two rings, together with twin brown leather slings with hook suspender attached, and also a brown leather sword-knot with blue and silver braid tassel
