Meiji Period
of rectangular shape, decorated in gold hiramakie and takamakie on a black ground with a leaping carp, the interior and underside in nashiji -- 6½in. (16.5cm.) wide; and another Japanese lacquer box and cover of rectangular shape, the cover decorated in inlaid mother-of-pearl and bone with flower blooms and foliage -- 4¾in. (12cm.) wide, (rubbing, minor losses to inlay).
