A Japanese lacquer writing box and cover (Suzuribako)
Edo Period
of rectangular shape with flush fitting lid decorated in gold and silver takamakie and hiramakie with a horse drinking from a stream, the interior of the lid with chrysanthemums, all on nashiji grounds, silvered copper water-dropper and rectangular inkstone with gold rims -- 8¾in. (22.2cm.) wide, (minor knocks and rubbing).
