Lot Essay

Modelled with a steeper gradient to a slightly shorter base and with subtle differences in the posture of the animal, the second version of Taureau debout was edited by Barye's atelier from 1857. The bronze modèle and its plaster were acquired by Barbedienne at the 1876 sale and editions continued up until the 1920s.
