The white enamel dial with Roman chapters and twin-train movement, surrounded by three cloudbourne putti, above a spreading socle with ribbon-tied swags, the tapering case headed by a sun mask, above a hinged door with scrolling foliage centred by an urn, the sides with lozenge parquetry panels, supported on paw feet and a shaped base with toupie feet, one shoulder mount inscribed F LINKE

Lot Essay

Attributed to the celebrated ébéniste, Jean-Henri Riesener, the original model of this clock was made circa 1785 and is now in the Louvre (cat. C.Dr., No 185).
