two lithographs, 1957, on Arches, Mourlot's first and second states (of three), Mourlot calls for a few proofs and the signed and numbered edition of 50 in the first state, first state inscribed 'FM 6/6 1er etat', 'M 306' and '306' in pencil on the reverse, second state inscribed '306', 'M 306 2e etat' and '2e etat 6/6 FM' in pencil on the reverse, both with margins, very pale mat staining and minor surface soiling on the reverse, otherwise both in very good condition, both framed

Lot Essay

In 1953 Picasso met Jacqueline Roque who became his wife in 1961 and served as his final muse. The series of portraits begun on December 16th, 1957 hark back to the earlier portraits of Françoise but here the subject looks away rather than confronts the viewer.
