The rotund figure is finely carved reclining, with a cheerful expression on his face, resting his chin on folded arms, his voluminous robes detailed with incised scroll trimmings, with the hallmark Xingyouheng Tang, Hall of Constancy, inscribed on the reverse

Lot Essay

Xingyouheng Tang was the hallmark of Dai Quan (?-1845) who was a bordered red bannersman, and a prolific collector of scholars' objects.
