The rectangular body of archaistic form with characteristic circular foot ring and mouth rim, applied with a pair of moulded elephant-heads, each suspending a mock ring-handle, with exception to the foot ring covered in a lustrous, dark violet-blue glaze, paling to a lighter blue on extremities

Lot Essay

A Jiaqing example in the National Palace Museum collection, Taibei, was included in the exhibition Monochrome Porcelain of the Ch'ing Dynasty, illustrated in the Catalogue no. 55.
