A Chelsea Kakiemon large shaped circular dish
Circa 1752, British Museum accession and catalogue numbers 99/10-6/49 and II.61 in black, indistinct inventory number C.279.CF(?) in red, perhaps for C. Drury Fortnum
Finely painted in a vibrant palette lightly enriched in gilding with a phoenix with a spectacular blue and red tail feathers and green rockwork beneath prunus, another phoenix in flight above banded hedges with bamboo with scattered flowers and foliage around, within a shaped rim (shallow rim chip at 5 o'clock)
11 in. (28 cm.) wide
