Richly painted with frises riches of alternate blue and carmine shells linked by laurel branches and reserved on a carmine-seeded ground edged in gilt and carmine and suspending flower garlands, the finial as a yellow ranunculus

Lot Essay

The mark of Charles-Louis Méreaud le jeune, recorded at Sèvres 1756-1780 as a painter of flowers and patterns, is often found on frises riches decoration incorporating shells, fronds, and a seeded ground.
