A fine detail study of the carved stone entrance to the tomb, known as the Tomb of the Kings, thought to house the members of the dynasty of David. This colossal tomb is usually considered the most magnificent of all those in the vicinity of Jerusalem. It was a popular subject for artists before, as well as photographers after this date. This clear and dramatic image shows the entrance before extensive excavation had been carried out.
