Lot Essay

The Frenchman de Lagrange was one of the earliest western photogaphers to travel to India, where he used the wet paper negative process invented by Blanquart-Evrard. This and the following four lots were inlcuded in Album Photographique de l'Artiste et de l'Amateur, an early photographically-illustrated book published by Blanquart-Evrard in 1851.
