A Lambert Chinese Dancer automaton

Details
A Lambert Chinese Dancer automaton
the Jumeau tinted bisque character head with closed smiling mouth, fixed brown eyes, pierced ears and long brown mohair wig, the open-spring movement playing two airs and causing her to pirouette from side to side, kick her left leg, sway from the waist, turning her head and twisting a tambourine in the right hand, in replacement yellow net-covered costume decorated with metal-thread, glass beads and pressed-metal coins, with LB key and tune-sheet - 21½in. (54cm.) high, (left hand repaired, ear-piercing chip to left ear, alterations)
Literature
Francois Theimer and Florence Theriault, (1994), The Jumeau Book, p. 387.

This rare Chinese character head, which is usually only found on the Chinoise Verseuse (Chinese tea Server) automaton, was part of a series specially commissioned from Jumeau by Lambert. The head is contemporary but probably not original to this piece.
