Côte-Rôtie, La Mouline--Vintage 1978
Rhône. Domaine-bottled: E. Guigal
Good appearance. Level base of neck
Tasing note: At ten years after the vintage: opaque, making the Brune et Blonde look feeble. Close knit, harmonious; rich, complex and concentrated. Tannin laden. Glorious fruit. Alas, nine years after that I had the misfortune of tasting this in the wrong orderand in the wrong ambience - a BYOB dinner, where guests snatch other guest's bottles. Unsurprisingly it seemed rather raw and tasteless after Ch d'Yquem. Last tasted in New York, Feb 1997. At its best *****. M.B.
