With nickel-finished lever movement, 17 jewels, the black dial with luminous accents towards the applied silvered baton indexes, three engine-turned subsidiary dials indicating constant seconds, 30 minute and 12 hour registers, the circular water-resistant-type case with screw back and screw down crown, two round chronograph buttons in the band, together with a stainless steel Rolex clasp, case and movement signed by maker, dial signed by maker and retailer

Lot Essay

Reference 6238 is the immediate predecessor of reference 6239, the first Cosmograph Daytona released by Rolex.

Examples of reference 6238 with black dials are extremely rare. The present lot is further distinguished by the Tiffany & Co. retailer signature.
