Lot Essay

To the best of our knowledge, this is the only example of reference 3561 to have been offered at auction in recent years and one of the first by Patek Philippe to feature a display back.

Contemporary wristwatches by Patek Philippe that have display backs have the case and reference numbers stamped to the interior edge of the back. In the case of the present lot, however, the case and reference numbers are stamped on the gold rim that borders the movement (see detail).

Patek Philippe confirm production of this watch in 1968 and its subsequent sale on November 11th of the same year.
