A ROMAN WALL-PAINTING FRAGMENT
Circa First Half of the 1st Century A.D.
Preserving Pan and Eros on an ochre ground, the brown-skinned Pan with a shaggy beard, a white fleece draped over his left shoulder, his arm extended across his chest, holding a spray of green ivy leaves in his hand, with a youthful Eros on his back, his wings outstretched, wearing a leafy wreath in his long wavy locks, holding a staff in his left hand and grasping Pan's left shoulder with his right, red and white drapery covering his left thigh
