Two George III silver candlesticks
Mark of John Carter, London, 1770 and 1771
Each formed as a slightly tapering fluted column, on square base with waved gadrooned borders and foliate angles, with Corinthian capital socket and detachable shaped square nozzle with gadrooned border, the base engraved with a crest and motto, marked on foot-rim, the nozzles with lion rampant, one with maker's mark, the bases filled
12½in. (32cm.) high
The crest is that of the St. Albyn family of Alfoxton, co. Somerset (2)
