A RARE GRISAILLE, IRON-RED AND GILT EUROPEAN-SUBJECT PLATE CIRCA 1750
Decorated at the centre primarily en grisaille with three gentleman and a lady on a terrace, she seated on a low table lifting her skirt to place her leg between the two men sitting opposite her watching her intently with beer tankards in their hands, the third man kneeling on a chair behind them holding a monocle to his eye for a better view, a small dog in the foreground also observing the lady, their skin picked out in flesh-tones, below red-outlined gilt leaf-scrolls forming linked cartouches at the border, underside rim chips
