Vavasour Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc--Vintage 1999
Vavasour Winery is located in the Awatere Valley, the neighbouring valley to the more well known Wairau Valley in Marlborough. The Vavasour family have a long farming background within the Awatere but it was not until the 1980's that viticulture was considered. In 1986 the first 30 acres were planted. Nowadays these vineyards are renowned for producing some of the best Sauvignon Blanc grapes in Marlborough. Only released in spectacular vintages, the Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is widely recognised as one of the leading wines produced within the region.
Tasting note: Smooth in texture, lean in structure, with a distinct floral caste to the citrus, pear and peach flavours. Wine Spectator,/2000
