The first a sennin seated on the back of a huge water-buffalo, with eyes inlaid in horn; the second a clam shell containing a vignette of a peasant tilling the ground outside his house, signed Ryokoku; the third a log of wood with a hinged lid, with an ivory ojime in the form of a gourd; the fourth a boat with a cabin opening to reveal an amorous couple; the fifth a foreigner holding a trumpet seated on an elephant; the sixth an old man digging for treasure accompanied by his dog, signed Tomochika; the seventh a man repairing one of his geta [clogs], small repair; the eighth a No dancer with a fan, the face in ivory, signed Moritoshi; the ninth a lotus root and leaf with movable seeds and two movable frogs; the tenth a seated monkey, signed Isshu; the eleventh a thwarted ratcatcher, signed Shuzan (Aikyama); the twelfth a monkey with a sack
