Born Madeleine Vouillon in 1912, Madeleine Sologne made her cinematic debut in Jean Renoir's La vie est à nous of 1936. It was in 1943, however, in her celebrated role as Nathalie playing opposite Jean Marais in Jean Cocteau's L'éternel retour, that she achieved great success. She was considered the very epitome of modern beauty and appeared in almost thirty films before she retired in 1969.
