Mark of William Thomas Wright & Frederick Davies, London, 1882
of plain rectangular form, with integral casters to the underside, the slightly domed lid applied with a monogram within a garter and below a coronet, engraved SEPTEMBER 1883, contained in a fitted silk lined presentation case - 22.7cm. (9in.) wide.

Lot Essay

The monogram is possibly that of Albert, Duke of Clarence, eldest son of Edward VII and Alexandra (1864-1892), who was made a Knight of the Garter on the 3rd September, 1883.
