A Buen Retiro white biscuit group of Erato with two putti
Circa 1775
Erato with a tied headscarf and a narrow robe wrapped about her chest and loins, standing with her head tilted to the left and playing an elaborate scroll-moulded harp resting on her hip, a putto with a violin seated on rockwork before her, a musical score and an oboe at her feet, another putto with outstretched arms seated on rockwork behind her with a score at his feet, on a high circular plinth base incised to simulate marble (restoration to one putto's fingers, chip to headscarf, head of violin lacking, very slight chipping to edge of base)
