Two cinnabar lacquer boxes and covers
18th Century
one with upper surface lacquered in dark green and designed as two melons joined together, the other with upper surface lacquered in ochre and designed as two finger citrons joined together, each with trailing flowers and leaves worked in green, black, red and brown, the sides of the box carved in red lacqer with a foliate geometric pattern, the interiors and bases lacquered black -- 4½in. (10.8cm.) approx.
