signed on the foot R. & J. BECK LONDON and numbered 12018, in a mahogany carrying case -- 34.3cm. (13½in.) high

Sliding eyepiece adjustment is achieved via a short limb connecting both eyepiece tubes, which can be moved up and down individually or together. The main binocular body-tube has rack and pinion focusing, a Wenham prism and a triple nosepiece. The micrometer fine adjustment screw is located on top of the main limb. The circular mechanical stage has a condensor lens with diaphragm, and a plano-concave substage mirror on an articulated arm. The main limb is raised via a compass joint to a short turned column on the concave triform foot. Accessories include: two pairs of eyepieces; Beck 2in, 1in, ½in., ¼in. and 1/8in. objectives, the latter in a cannister, the others with screw caps; live box; glass stage attachment; and three further substage condensor attachments. The case has a brass carrying handle and key.
