The larger table orrery with a 1½-inch diameter terrestial globe by BARDIN LONDON made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores, the equatorial graduated in degrees and hours, the equinoctial colure graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in 12 times 0-30° with sigils for the houses of the Zodiac, the continents outlined in green, yellow and red, with little detail, mounted with twilight zone indicator, wooden moon ball and silvered Zodiac and moonphase rings, over a multi-wheeled gear system from the central brass Sun ball with Mercury and Venus represented by half-ebonised wooden balls on brass arms (new planet balls and some brass components), mounted over the circular horizon plate with hand-coloured engraved paper entitled A TABLE of the principal AFFECTATIONS of the PLANETS Jany 1st 1794. Published as the Act directs by W. & S. Jones with two scrolls held up by cherubs for Designed for the NEW PORTABLE ORRERIES by W. JONES and and Made and Sold by W. & S. Jones 30 Holborn LONDON with a table dated ANNO 1794 showing information for the various planets, a planetary chart showing the position of Saturn up to the year 1810, and all surrounded by scales for degrees of amplitude and azimuth, compass directions, days of the houses of the Zodiac and days of the month, applied to a mahogany plate edged with red paint and raised on three short turned feet, with an ivory turning handle for the gears beneath -- 12½in. (31.8cm.) diameter; together with a smaller orrery entitled A NEW PORTABLE ORRERY Invented and Made by W. JONES and Sold by him in Holborn, LONDON with a central brass Sun ball and brass arms for the half-ebonised ivory planet balls, for Mercury, Venus, Earth with one moon ball, Jupiter with four Moons, Saturn with rings and seven moons, and Neptune with two moons, the central vertical axis arranged to screw into a horizontal mahogany plate, edged with red paint and with applied hand-coloured engraved horizon paper bearing the maker's details in a scroll, diagrams of the planets, quarters for the seasons and circumference scales for days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac -- 7¾in. (19.7cm.) diameter; both contained in the original oak travelling case
