A SCOTTISH BEARING SWORD
19th 20th Century
With flat tapering double-edged blade of crudely formed iron (heavily pitted), downcurved brass quillons with pyramid-shaped finials, the centre of the cross engraved 'Canongate' on one side, and set on the other with a silver shield engraved with the device and motto of Canongate (in Edinburgh), and domed fluted pommel, the grip bound with plaited silver wire
