A SCOTTISH BASKET-HILTED BACKSWORD
Second quarter of the 18th Century
With tapering blade double-edged at the point and with two long fullers along the back-edge, each stamped 'Andria Farara', iron guard of slender bars involving incised panels pierced with circles and stylised hearts, fluted pommel, and later fluted wooden grip (some surface rust), in brass-mounted tooled leather scabbard (chape missing)
