The first third quarter of the 17th Century, the second early 19th Century
The first with slender three-stage turn-off barrel released by a spring-catch and stud in front of the trigger-guard, and with a ring around the muzzle, plain tang, associated flat bevelled lock (reconverted from percussion) retaining traces of engraved decoration, rootwood full stock (wormed, cracked, and mostly replaced) with a raised panel at the barrel tang, and iron mounts including pierced side-plate and later butt-cap (in worn condition with some surface pitting), London proof marks, barrelsmith's mark 'GT' under a fleur-de-lys, possibly for George I Trulock; the second with earlier three-stage sighted barrel dated 1759 on the octagonal breech, plain tang (incomplete), plain rounded lock (surface rusted), full stock (minor defects), cheek-piece, brass mounts, set trigger, and brass-tipped ramrod
