Lot Essay

Three legged chairs were popular in Norway and were made in several regional styles. This example is painted with traditional Norwegian rosemaling floral painting; the label gives A. Olsen of Laerdalseren as the maker and goes on to state that his chairs had won prizes in both Bergen (in 1898) and Paris (in 1900).
