A long "Paisley" shawl
Mid-19th century
Woven in coloured wools predominantly in shades of red, green and blue with pairs of elongated palm-tipped cones rising from a scalloped border and containing a variety of small-scale floral decoration, the ogival medallion field of ivory wool invaded by fronds of palmettes and pinwheel flowers
126 x 63in. (320 x 160cm.);
and a square "Paisley" shawl of fine black wool, woven in coloured wools with a border of floral and foliate arabesques, 19th century -- 14in. (355cm) square (2)
