A one page letter handwritten by John Lennon to Mario Rossi, the art critic for 'The Syracuse Post-Standard,' in 1971. Penned in black felt-tip ink on Hotel Syracuse stationery, the manuscript reads in full:
Dear Mario (19th Century) Rossi,/if you'd said anything/in your mediocre little attack on the 20th century, i'd [sic] /answer it. You haven't. Why don't you give your job to a writer?/from two lovers of the old and new./John Lennon/Yoko Ono/P.S. i [sic] suppose Marcel Du champs [sic] bicycle wheel goes under the categories of 'rusted plumbing,' thanks for the compliment. (you have heard of du champ? [sic]
