A Brass Framed Sextant In A Keystone Box
Dollond; British, 19th century
A 19th century brass 'T' frame sextant with inlaid steel scales divided into degrees, the brass vernier with clamp and fine screw adjustment. Signed on the arc Dollond, London, and engraved with the owners name on the vernier D.B. Crampton, R.N.. Fitted with 7 shades, 2 mirrors, 3 lenses each engraved with the intitials 'H.T.L.D.', all in a fitted keystone box with the label 'Cox & Coombes' November 1887.
11¼ x 10½ x 4¾ in.(28.6 x 26.7 x 12.1 cm.) boxed dimensions.
