Believed to be the former property of the German wildlife photographer Walter Wissenbach. Wissenbach developed a process of stroboscopic or 'short flash photography' to capture images of birds in flight.
Although initially developed by Eric Hosking in England during the second world war, it was Wissenbach who brought the process to Germany with a Leica and light barrier. His work won wide praise in Germany - from the Leica Photo Contest to having his photographs published in the Frankfurter Illustrierte weekly paper, inspiring the new generation of wildlife photographers in the 1960s.
